The History of Structural Racism in New Jersey

Our Programs

End of Summer Convenings

At the end of each summer research cycle (June-August), Truth + Repair hosts an end-of-summer convening where students share and discuss their research findings with our community partners and an audience of educators, administers, cultural workers, and community members.

The majority of the research is conducted during the summer (June-August). The summer research cycle concludes with an end-of-summer convening in later August, during which students share and discuss their research findings with our community partners and an audience of educators, administrators, cultural workers, and interested community members.

Summer Research Workshops

During the first weeks of each summer research cycle, Truth + Repair invites librarians and archivists to present at four or five, one-hour research workshops. These archivists and librarians will be from Rutgers, Princeton, St. Peter’s, SSAAM, and cultural organizations across New Jersey. The presenters will discuss topics on how to access and navigate the state’s physical and digital holdings relevant to the themes of Truth + Repair.

Past presenters have included:

  • Steven Knowlton, the Librarian for History and African American Studies at Princeton University;
  • Yingting Zhang, the Research Services Librarian at the Robert Wood Johnson Library of the Health Sciences and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University;
  • Christine Lutz, the New Jersey Regional Librarian and Head of Public Services in the Special Collections and University Archives at Rutgers University-New Brunswick;
  • Catherine Medich and John Bozzard, Reference Librarians at the New Jersey State Archives; and
